Keeping the brilliant form of Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in the home series against the West Indies, KL Rahul scored a brilliant century and scored his century before lunch on the second day of the Ahmedabad Test. However, when the game started after lunch, he was dismissed without any runs and pairs in the first over. This is the 11th Test century of his career. The interesting thing is that this is just the second Test century of his career on domestic land which has come after 9 years.
Thanks to KL Rahul’s tremendous innings, India scored 218 runs at the loss of 3 wickets till lunch on the second day. On the basis of the first innings till lunch, he had a lead of 56 runs on the West Indies. By the first session of the second day, KL Rahul returned unbeaten after scoring 100 runs and Dhruv Jurlel 14 runs. After that KL lost his wicket in the first over of the second season.
Earlier on Friday morning, India started its innings ahead by 121 runs at the loss of 2 wickets. Then KL Rahul 53 and captain Shubman Gill were at 18 runs. In the first session the second day, India suffered a huge setback as captain Gill. He became the victim of Roston Chase by scoring 50 runs in 100 balls. After that Dhruv Jurael came to bat. KL Rahul and Jurael ensured that India did not get any other shock till lunch. 2 overs before lunch, KL Rahul completed his century in 190 balls. This is his 11th century in Test cricket. During this, he hit 12 fours.
This is just the second Test century on KL Rahul’s domestic soil which has come after about 9 years. Earlier in December 2016, he scored a Test century against England in Chepak. He scored 199 runs in that match. The special thing is that apart from the players playing for Team India at that time, only the vice -captain Ravindra Jadeja is in the playing XI.
