For the skill development and livelihood promotion of women, NIT for the livelihood promotion of women in Dhamtari. Raipur and DSIR Has taken a common initiative of DSIR Not only is Chhattisgarh but the first project in India.

Dhamtari district has historically been a pioneer in the production of grain and forest-based produce, which is the backbone of rural livelihood in the region. A large number of farmers and women are engaged in agriculture and forest-based businesses. To increase production, ensure better value to achieve and improve livelihood opportunities, scientific capacity building, price enhancement and skill development are highly needed.

A commendable step has been taken by the district administration for this. Special initiative of Collector Shri Abinash Mishra. DSIR in Dhamtari district (DSIR) A proposal to set up a skill satellite center was sent. This initiative is TDUPW. (Technology Development and Utilization Program for Women) will be operated under the scheme, which aims to connect women in rural areas with modern technical training and new opportunities.

The project will be jointly implemented by District Administration Dhamtari and NIT Raipur Foundation for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NITRRFIE). Under this, modern design intervention will be promoted in forest produce (NTFP) based skill development, price promotion and traditional weaving techniques. Also, there is a plan to adopt innovations like “West to Wealth” through fiber extraction technology, which can make valuable products using waste materials.

Dr. Anuj Kumar Shukla, Assistant Professor of NIT Raipur has been given the responsibility as Director and Principal Investigator of the project. The project will provide NIT Raipur Foundation technical expertise, scientific research and product innovation, while the district administration will play the role of local cooperation, infrastructure and organizing the community.

The project will be completed in a period of 36 months. A proposal for financial assistance of about 95 lakh rupees has been prepared for this. This will give new strength to the rural economy of the district and will increase the opportunities for self -reliance and employment creation for women.

Collector Shri Abinash Mishra said that “The project will provide a new direction to the rural livelihood of Dhamtari district. Women have been targeted to make them self -reliant by connecting technical training, modern resources and scientific innovation. With the participation of rural women, this initiative will prove to be a milestone towards employment generation and sustainable economic development.

Women from remote and Vananchal areas of Dhamtari district are likely to get special benefits from this project. Local resources based entrepreneurship and skill development will lead to livelihood promotion, while women empowerment and socio-economic advancement will also contribute significantly.

This initiative will not only strengthen women technically, but will also provide a new identity to the rural economy of the district.

It can eventually be said that N.I.T. Raipur and DSIR The common initiative of Dhamtari district is a historic step towards self -reliance, skill development and sustainable economic progress for women in the district. This project will not only strengthen the economic status of women but will also give them a new identity in the society.
