Rajkot Court: Three youths of West Bengal accused of being involved in life imprisonment, jihadi and anti -national activities

Court sentenced three youths of West Bengal to life imprisonment

A Rajkot court on Wednesday sentenced three youths from West Bengal to life imprisonment. They were accused of conspiring against the government and radicalizing the youth through jihadi publicity. Along with sentenced to life imprisonment, the court also ordered a fine of Rs 10,000 on each accused.

The accused, who were sentenced to life imprisonment, have been identified as Aman Siraj Malik (23), Abdul Shakur Ali Sheikh (20), and Shafanwaz Abu Shahid (23), who were convicted by the court. Along with sentenced to life imprisonment, the court also ordered a fine of Rs 10,000 on each accused.

Accused arrested in July

The ATS of Gujarat arrested the accused in July 2023. The ATS was informed that he worked as an artisan at a fake jewelery factory at Sony Bazaar in Rajkot and was doing jihadi and anti-national propaganda from a local mosque. The ATS said that these accused were also in touch with the Al Qaeda handler of Bangladesh. All these accused used to work on the gestures of those people.

Based on intelligence information, ATS arrested two of them from Rajkot railway station and the third accused from a residential building. According to the ATS, a desi pistol, cartridges and objectionable goods were recovered from the accused.

Used to use encrypted messaging app

After arresting the accused, the ATS had told that these accused used to talk to their handlers using an encrypted messaging app. Through this, the handler sitting in Bangladesh instructed him to work. The ATS had said that the Bangladeshi handler inspired the accused for ‘Jihad’ and ‘Hijrat’ and asked other people to join this ideology.

The court, while giving its verdict, said that the mobile, revolver and corner seized from the accused show that the accused was involved in crimes along with anti-national activities.
