Good news for pensioners: inflation relief will increase by 2% from October

Raipur
In the festive season, good news has come from Chhattisgarh for more than four and a half lakh pensioners of the state. They will get more inflation relief from the rate of two percent, that is, it will be 55 percent after the increase. However, it will be not available from January, but from the pension of September. The payment in October will be at an increased rate. After getting consent from Chhattisgarh, the Finance Department will now propose for the decision before the cabinet to increase inflation relief. Employees in the state are getting dearness allowance at the rate of 55 percent from January 1, 2025, while pensioners are being given dearness relief at the rate of 53 percent from March 2025.

Government of Chhattisgarh increased inflation relief
The Finance Department explains the consent received from Chhattisgarh, the reason for this two percent difference. Departmental officials say that under Section 49 of the Madhya Pradesh Reorganization Act 2000, the decision to increase inflation to pensioners and family pensioners is decided by the consent of both states.

On 12 March 2025, the Government of Chhattisgarh agreed to increase three percent inflation in the seventh pay scale and seven percent in the sixth pay scale. It was increased on the basis of this. Now it has been agreed to increase 53 percent inflation relief by two percent to equal dearness allowance of employees. This will be applicable from the September pension i.e. payment will be received from October. On the basis of this, a proposal has been prepared.

Government is discriminating
President of Pensioners Association, Amod Saxena, says that under Madhya Pradesh Pay Revision Rules 2009, it was decided to give the benefit of the sixth pay scale to the employees of the state as well as the pensioners from January 1, 2006, but the benefits were given to the pensioners from September 1, 2008. 32 months arrears have not been paid till date. On the other hand, the association’s patron Ganesh Dutt Joshi said that pensioners are being discriminated against and economic interests are being attacked.
