Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the country through the 126th episode of Mann Ki Baat.
During this, PM Modi said that it is necessary to recognize Indian culture and festivals on the global stage. He said that some time ago, due to the efforts of the Government of India, Durga Puja of Kolkata also became a part of this list of UNESCO. He said that if we give such global recognition to our cultural events, then the world will also know about them.
In his address, PM Modi shared things of Indian culture and traditions with the countrymen. On this occasion, he threw light on the importance of Chhath Puja and described it as a vibrant symbol of the cultural heritage of India. The PM said that the Government of India is working to include Chhath festival in the list of UNESCO’s abstract cultural heritage.
Chhath festival will be included in the list of UNESCO
He said that the Government of India has started the formal process to include Chhath Mahaparva in UNESCO’s intangible Cultural Heritage List. PM Modi said that Chhath Mahaparva is not only the festival of faith, but is a unique example of nature, sun worship, water and environmental protection. By getting it globally recognized, the ancient folk traditions of India will get respect on the world stage. He said that when Chhath Puja is included in the list of UNESCO, people will be able to experience its grandeur and divinity in every corner of the world.
‘Our festivals keep India’s culture alive’
PM Modi said that our festivals keep India’s culture alive. Chhath Puja is a sacred festival after Diwali. This Mahaparva dedicated to the Sun God is very special. He said that in this we offer arghya to the sinking sun and worship them. The PM said that Chhath is celebrated not only in different parts of the country, but its grandeur is also seen all over the world. He said that today it is becoming a global festival.
Chairman of Sixth Maiya Foundation welcomed
Here, the Chairman of the Sixth Maiya Foundation and Advocate of the Supreme Court, Sandeep Kumar Dubey welcomed this initiative of the Government of India. He said, ‘Prime Minister has shared the resolve to get Chhath Mahaparva to recognize Chhath Mahaparva internationally in Mann Ki Baat, it is a moment of pride for all of us. This decision is not only a respect for the faith of Bihar and Purvanchal, but is an opportunity to convey the message of sun worship and environmental balance.
‘Historical achievement for the cultural heritage of the country’
He further said that the Foundation will widely publicize this historic step and will bring the glory of Chhath Mahaparva to the international stage by connecting the Indian migrant community around the world. At the same time, experts believe that the name of Chhath Mahaparva in this list of UNESCO will be a historical achievement for India’s cultural heritage.
