During this meeting, the free trade agreement (FTA) was discussed between India and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). If this agreement is done, it will be easier to do business. Along with this, there was also talk of creating a new grain exchange for BRICS countries, which will increase the trade of agricultural products.

This meeting of Patrushev and PM Modi took place during ‘World Food India 2025’. Patrushev said that Russia will continue to work with India in every field and will try its best to further strengthen the relationship between the two countries. At the same time, Prime Minister Modi said, ‘I was happy to meet Russia’s Deputy PM Dimitri Patrushev. We talked about how to increase work together in farming, fertilizer and food processing.
India maintained balance in business
Dimitri Patrushev and PM Modi have met at a time when Western countries have imposed several restrictions on Russia due to the Russia-Ukraine War. America has also imposed 25% additional tariffs on India for purchasing Russian oil. However, India has carried forward its historical and strategic relations with Russia with balance.
The trade between Russia and India in 2024 reached $ 70.6 billion, which is 9.2% higher than in 2023. India’s import from Russia was $ 67.15 billion. This trade was just $ 10 billion before Kovid-19. The largest trading level has been considered to be the largest ever between the two countries.
