Ramgarh,
On Thursday, two elephants fell into a 25 feet deep well in Parsadih forest of Gola forest area of Ramgarh district of Jharkhand. These include one adult and the other. Both are alive and have launched a big rescue campaign to evacuate them safely.
Officials said that both of them survived due to low water in the well. Rescue work is being done with the help of JCB and other equipment. The forest department team has appealed to the villagers not to crowds around the well and keep distance from elephants so that there is no obstruction in the rescue campaign.
Villagers said that this well was dug on the land of Dinaram Manjhi, resident of Parsadih village, under the MNREGA scheme. Due to the dense shrubs around the well, the elephants did not get an idea of this and they fell directly into it.
Villagers say that the well is in the open and there is no security wall around it. For this reason, this well did not appear and the incident of elephants fell.
According to department officials, a herd of about 42 elephants is roaming in this area. A few days ago, information about the birth of three children was revealed in the herd of elephants in Hesapoda forest.
Local people have demanded from the administration and forest department that all such wells dug along the forest should be secured. He says that if there is no arrangement to cover or surround these wells from all around, then such incidents can happen again in future.
Villagers warned that open wells remain a serious threat to wildlife. The Gola forest area is constantly under discussion these days due to elephants’ activities. The continuous movement of elephants has caused both panic and curiosity among the villagers. The forest department has advised people to be vigilant and maintain safe distance from elephants.
