“Bastar Olympics 2025-26” is being organized by the state government with the aim of connecting the youth of Bastar zone to the mainstream of sports and improving their hidden talent. Registration of players has started for this. The government has issued a letter to all the divisional commissioners and district collectors and directed to ensure the participation of more and more youth in the Bastar Olympic competition.
The Sports and Youth Welfare Department will be the main event department of this event while the Home (Police) Department has been appointed as the Nodal Department. The organizing committee will be constituted by the concerned collectors at the development level. District and division level committees have been constituted as per the order of the General Administration Department. At the district level, Chief Executive Officer, District Panchayat or any Senior State Administrative Officer will be appointed as Nodal Officer.
Mascot and logo
The mascot and logo of Bastar Olympics will be “Van Bhainsa” and “Pahari Maina” this time like last year. They will be used in widespread publicity. The government has instructed all districts to ensure maximum participation in the competition, registration facility and other preparations immediately. The event will prove to be a historical initiative to identify the sports talents of Bastar region, connect the youth with the mainstream of the society and strengthen the relationship between the government and the public.
The intention of the state government is that through this event, sports talents of Bastar zone should get opportunities at the state and national level and the youth should get positive direction. The specialty of this event is that participants and surrendered former Naxalites who were disabled in Naxal violence will be given an opportunity to participate directly at the division level. This will pave the way for connecting them to the mainstream of society. Vatalifting and hockey competitions will be held from district level while in other sports, matches will be held from development blocks to division level.
This competition will be organized in three -tier form at the development block, district and division level. The event will feature 11 games which will include sports like athletics, archery, badminton, football, hockey, weightlifting, karate, kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball and tug of war. The competition will be held in junior and senior category.
Sports included in the competition
The event will organize 100 meters, 200 meters and 400 meter races, long jump, high jump, shotput, discus throw, javelin throw and 4 × 100 meter relay race under athletics. Indian rounds 30 and 50 meters in archery, different weight categories for junior and senior classes in weightlifting and classes on age and weight in Karate have been determined. Players will also get widespread opportunities in kabaddi, kho-kho, volleyball and football. The tug of war will only be held as a performance game for the women’s senior category.
Registration from 22 September to 20 October
The registration process for the competition will run from 22 September to 20 October 2025. After this, the development level will be held from 25 October to 5 November, district level from 5 to 15 November and division level competitions from 24 to 30 November. The competition will be held in two age group, junior class 14 to 17 years and senior class in which there will be no age limit.
