Registration portal of Mahtari Vandan Yojana opened in Naxal areas also

A big case of irregularities has come to light in the BJP government’s ambitious Mahtari Vandan Yojana in Bastar. Within a year, the names of 3,399 women of the district have been removed from the list. Among them, there were 1,923 women who had died, while the documents of the rest of the beneficiaries were found to be disturbed or they were taking advantage of the scheme even while in government service.

Women and Child Development Officer Manoj Sinha said that in many cases the amount was released due to late information about death, which is now being recovered. Prime Minister Narendra Modi started the scheme from Kashi last year. In the first month, about 1.94 lakh women of the district were given the first installment. The 19th installment has been released so far, but still hundreds of women are deprived of the scheme due to the release of registration, passing Aadhaar card or recently gaining eligibility.

Registration started in Naxalite affected areas

Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Women and Child Development Minister Laxmi Rajwade have already announced that the registration portal will be opened again. At present, new registrations are not being done in Bastar district, but Naxal victims are being registered in Naxalite affected areas. The department has put suspicious beneficiaries in the investigation list and the amount is being collected from those who have wrongly benefited.
