Question of the martyr of the Pahalgam attack-Why India-Pak cricket match?

New Delhi
Ashanya Dwivedi, wife of a person killed in the Pahgam terror attack, has strongly opposed the upcoming India-Pakistan Asia Cup 2025 match and appealed to all to boycott the match. He said that the sacrifice of 26 people who lost their lives in the attack is being ignored and playing cricket with a terrorist nation like Pakistan is like sprinkling salt on the wounds of martyred families.

Talking to the media, he said, “BCCI should not have accepted this match. Our players are called nationalists, but no one except 1-2 refused to come forward and play against Pakistan. It was his moral responsibility to stand for the country. But they are not doing so.”

He questioned what the revenue from the match would be useful. He said, “Pakistan will use that money only for terrorism. Sponsors and broadcasters also think if their nationality is not limited to those 26 families? Do not turn on TV, boycott this match.”

Opposition parties have also targeted the central government and BCCI regarding the India-Pakistan match. Shiv Sena UBT leader Aditya Thackeray asked-“Can blood and cricket flow together?” The Maharashtra Congress said that it is an insult to the martyrs and their families. Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP) alleged that the government has exposed its double standards by permission to the match.

On the other hand, the Supreme Court on Thursday refused to hear the petition seeking a ban on the India-Pakistan match to be held in Dubai on 14 September.
