The Indian women’s hockey team reached the Asia Cup file. Host China defeated Korea 1-0 in the last match of the Super-4 phase on Saturday. India benefited from this. In the Super-4, India played a 1–1 draw against Japan. India will face China in the final on Sunday and the winning team will qualify for the World Cup to be held in Belgium and Netherlands next year. India had to wait for the outcome of the match between Korea and China after a 1–1 draw against defending champions Japan.
Korea left behind
Korea was required to win by a margin of at least two goals to reach the finals. However, China’s victory ensured that India, who finished third in the 2022 edition, would play the final.
China remained in the first place
China topped the Super-4 points table with 9 points after three wins. While India finished second with four points from one win, one draw and one necklace. Korea scored only one point (one draw and two necklaces) and finished at the bottom. Japan finished third with two points.
In the match against Japan, India took the lead with a field goal of Beauty Dung Dung in the seventh minute. However, Japan returned late when Kobayakava Shiho (58th minute) scored a goal of equal two minutes before the hooter.
There was also a draw in the pool stage
This was the second draw between the two teams in this tournament. Earlier, the pool phase was also released on a 2–2 match. The victory against Japan would have directly brought India to the final against hosts China. Therefore, India waited for the result of the Super 4 match between China and Korea.
