The drainage system of the city was completely destroyed as soon as it rained. Roads in many areas including Santoshi Nagar, Raipura, Gudiyari were filled with full. Alam was that people were forced to drive their vehicles in water filled above knees. Power cuts affected the city’s drinking water system. As soon as the evening lightning went, all the concerned water plants including the filter plant were closed.
The rains in the capital on Sunday evening exposed the arrangements of the entire city. The electricity department cut off the power of half the city citing security due to rain, causing millions of people to worry in more than three hours.
The power failure had a direct impact on the drinking water supply of the city. Due to this, the filter plants were closed and water supply from 42 tanks of the city is expected to be affected on Monday morning. At the same time, due to the bad drainage system, roads became a river, due to which there was a situation of jam in the city. People were forced to pass through water filled with knees. IMD Raipur has issued a yellow alert for the entire state of heavy rain. Along with heavy rains in all 33 districts of Chhattisgarh, alert for clouds has also been issued.

Power failure of many areas
As soon as the weather took a turn on Sunday evening and it started raining, electricity was cut in many parts. Supplies came to a standstill in dozens of areas including Civil Line, Tikrapara, Siddharth Chowk, Santoshi Nagar, Pachapedi Naka, Bhatagaon, Old Basti and Sundar Nagar. At the same time, the street lights of many major roads were closed, due to which the passers -by faced inconvenience. The electricity department claimed a precautionary cut, but this deduction increased people’s problems manifold. People were disturbed by the darkness in the houses for hours.
Power cuts have effect on drinking water
Power cuts affected the city’s drinking water system. As soon as the electricity went to six in the evening, all the concerned water plants including the filter plant were closed. According to the municipal engineers, 42 water tanks of the city could not be filled till late night due to prolonged power cuts. As a result, water supply will be affected across the city on Monday morning, due to which people will have to face water shortage at the beginning of the day.
