Mumbai News: A major accident occurred during Ganpati immersion in Sakinaka area of ​​Mumbai on Sunday morning. The devotees got electrocuted after coming in contact with the electric wire while swinging on Khairani Road at around 10:45 am. One person died in the accident, while five others were injured.

How did the accident happen?

The electrical wire swinging during the Ganpati statue immersion procession suddenly collided with the idol. At the same time, six devotees near the statue were hit by the current. There was chaos in the area after the accident.

The condition of the injured stable

Locals immediately admitted the injured to private hospitals in Mumbai News, while one was taken to seven hills hospital. Here doctors declared Beenu Sukraman Kumran (36) dead. The remaining five were injured – Subhanshu Kamat (20), Tushar Gupta (20), Dharmaraj Gupta (49), Karan Kannaujia (14) and Anusha Gupta (6) – have been admitted to Paramount Hospital. According to officials, their condition is now stable.

Questions raised on security

The accident once again questions the safety standards in public events. Swinging electrical wires remain a threat not only to the immersion procession but also to the safety of common citizens.

Police and BMC officials have started investigating the incident. The administration has appealed that security and vigilance should be given priority in Ganpati immersion processions so that such incidents can be avoided.
