The situation is continuously deteriorating due to heavy rains in Delhi and the boom of Yamuna. The water level of the river has reached above 207 meters, causing water to enter the low -lying areas. Even many relief camps have been flooded. Water has reached near Old Usmanpur and Garhi Mandu villages.
Meteorological Department released red alert
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rains in many areas of Delhi. Safdarjung recorded 19.8 mm in 24 hours, 9.1 mm in Palam, 11.4 mm in Lodhi Road, 28.2 mm in Ridge and 5.7 mm in Ayyanagar. A red alert has been issued for districts of Delhi, East, North-East, Shahdara, south and south-east districts. At the same time, Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram and Faridabad have been placed on Orange Alert.
Water released from Hathinikund and increased difficulties
A large amount of water is being released continuously from the Delhi Flood Update in Haryana. By Tuesday night, its flow had reached 2 lakh cusecs. This further increased the water level of Yamuna, due to which flood situation has been created in the low -lying areas of Delhi.
Yamuna water level till 6 pm:
- Sheds from Hathnikund barrage: 1,74,442 cusecs
- Vajirabad Barrage Flow: 1,82,270 Cusecs
- Flow from Okhla Barrage: 2,18,028 Cusecs
- Level on ORB: 207.33 m
Thousands displaced, traffic affected
More than 10,000 people have been shifted to safe places due to floods. People from low -lying areas are forced to leave their homes and goods and go to safe places. The old railway bridge has been closed for traffic. Boats are running in markets in Delhi and many roads have turned into drains. Hundreds of families have been affected from Majnu Ka Tila to Madanpur Khadar and Badarpur.
Danger level crosses for the fourth time in 63 years
The Yamuna River has crossed the 207 meter level only four times in the last 63 years. This time the flood is considered to be one of the most serious situations of recent years in Delhi. According to experts, the situation may be more challenging for a few days.
