A sudden landslide occurred on Tuesday on Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra route. The accident took place near Ardhkunwari, where thousands of devotees go to the court of Mother every day. Let us know that debris and big stone fell on the track from the hill with a loud blast, due to which 5 people have died. 14 people are injured there.
According to the information, the injured have been rushed to the hospital in Katra for treatment. Shrine boards and security forces started relief and rescue operations soon after the accident. The devotees on the track are being shifted to safe places. Along with the local administration and police, the NDRF team is also on alert mode on the spot.
Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra stopped
Mata Vaishno Devi Yatra has been temporarily stopped in view of the safety of devotees. The route from Ardhkunwari to Mother’s building has been closed. At the same time, the movement of devotees from the lower track has also been limited. The devotees who are on the journey are being held at safe sites. Mobile and internet service is stalled in many areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Vacation declared in schools due to rain, examination postponed
Due to bad weather, the recruitment process for the post of constable in various security forces was postponed. Also, the administration has issued an order to close all government and private schools in Jammu division till August 27. The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education has also announced to postpone the examinations of class 10 and 11 scheduled on Wednesday. The BSF informed that the Constable (GD) recruitment examination in Palora Camp, Jammu has been postponed due to bad weather and the candidates called today will now be able to appear on 3 September.

Traffic postponed on national highway
More than 10 houses have been destroyed due to cloudburst in Doda, causing panic among the local residents. Due to this, the Vaishno Devi Yatra has been stopped at the moment.
Traffic was stopped on the 250 km-long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway as a precaution this morning after falling stones from the hills in Chanderkot, Banana Mor and battery glasses in Ramban district. The movement of vehicles on the only perennial highway connecting the rest of the country has been stopped in Udhampur in Jammu and Qazigund in Kashmir. The army from Gadigarh area is continuously rescuing people.
Alert in these areas by 27 August
The weather forecast has predicted moderate to heavy rains at several places in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri, Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar districts till 27 August, and cloudburst, sudden floods and landslides in high rains and height areas.
Things worsen due to heavy rains

Tawi River on boom
The water level of Tawi river in Udhampur has reached above the danger mark and has also crossed the 2014 flood level. The administration has warned that its water may increase in Jammu city and 7–10 feet in the next few hours.
Jammu’s DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma said that a flood alert has been issued in the entire Jammu division. There is an appeal to the people not to go to rivers and drains and keep in touch with the administration.
At the same time, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has decided to go from Srinagar to Jammu in view of the seriousness of the situation. He has given instructions to provide additional funds to all the district Deputy Commissioners and to speed up relief work.
