CISF Women’s Commando
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) announced on Sunday that her first women’s commando unit has now started. This special women’s squad will be deployed for security duty at the airports and other sensitive establishments of the country. Women commandos are now being given special training at the Regional Training Center (RTC) at Barwaha, Madhya Pradesh. According to the spokesperson, this eight -week advance commando course is specially designed for women safety personnel. Its purpose is to prepare them for the responsibilities of a quick response team (QRT) and special task force (STF) posted in high security establishments and plants.
The program includes training for health fitness and weapons use, stressful conditions, live-fire drills, races, barriers-parked practices, rapping training. Apart from this, the art of survival in the forest, the ability to take immediate decision in challenging situations and teamwork training were specially prepared. It also includes a 48 -hour confidence enhancing practice. According to officials, the first party of women who are currently appointed at different airports in the country are taking training since August 11. It will run till October 4. After this, the second party will participate in this training from 6 October to 29 November.
The purpose of the women’s commando unit
CISF said that initially at least 100 women personnel will be included in this special training program. These women will be from different aviation safety groups (ASGs) and other sensitive CISF units. The spokesperson informed that the purpose of the force is to make these women training programs permanent part of their regular training structure. After completing the training, these women personnel will be first posted at the airports and after that they will also be entrusted with responsibilities at other sensitive establishments.
Future plans and women representation
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is increasing the recruitment of women to successfully achieve the target of 10% women representation set by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Currently the number of women in CISF is 12,491, which is about 8% of the total number of forces. By the year 2026, 2,400 more women personnel will be recruited. The future recruitment process will be arranged in such a way that the participation of women in the force remains a minimum of 10% consecutive%.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Home Affairs approved the first Women Battalion of CISF. The battalion is being set up near Delhi and its women security personnel will be deployed in the security of Parliament House, Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi Metro and other major government establishments in the national capital.
