US Vice President JD Vance said that President Donald Trump has imposed tariffs on India to put pressure on Russia to stop the war. According to Vance, this decision has been taken with the aim of reducing Russia’s oil exports and financially weakening it.

Actually, the US has imposed a 50% tariff on India, which will be applicable from August 27. Out of this, 25% of tariffs have been imposed as penalty. This penalty has been imposed on India due to buying oil from Russia. There is tension between India and America regarding the tariff.

India has repeatedly defended the decision to import oil from Russia. India says that this decision is in the national interest. After the attack on Ukraine in February 2022, western countries refused to buy Russian oil and ban Russia. After this, India started buying oil from Russia at cheaper rates.

Oil sale helps Russia in war

America says that Russia is getting indirect help in the war due to the sale of oil. Vance was asked that America is not imposing new restrictions on Russia, in such a situation how to bring Putin and Jailonski to the conversation table.

On this, Vance said, Trump has tried to push Russia towards peace talks through tariffs. If Russia stops killings, it can be re -included in the World Economy. If this does not happen, they will remain isolated.

Jaishankar retaliated on America on Russian oil

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar defended India’s energy relations with Russia and said that the oil purchase of New Delhi is both in the interest of both national and global. Jaishankar said, it is ridiculous that people of the US administration are accusing others of doing business. If you have difficulty in buying oil or refined products from India, do not buy. Nobody is forcing you for this.

Jaishankar said that when oil prices increased in 2022, concern increased worldwide. At that time it was said that if India wants to buy oil from Russia, then let it be allowed to buy. Because this will stabilize prices. The purpose of shopping for India is also to calm the markets. We are buying oil from Russia to keep prices stable. It is in the interest of both national and global.
