Asia Cup 2025: What will not happen ind vs pak match, Sunil Gavaskar said a big thing

The Asia Cup to be held in UAE next month is to be played between India and Pakistan on 14 September. However, controversy has arisen over this high-voltage match. Many former players are demanding to boycott the match against Pakistan. Meanwhile, former India captain and great batsman Sunil Gavaskar has made a big statement and has also appealed to the fans.

Protests intensified after Pahalgam attack

After the death of 22 people in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April, Pakistan is being opposed at every level in India. The sports world is also not untouched by this. The India Champions team refused to play against Pakistan twice at the World Championship of Legend in England.

Players are tied: Gavaskar

Gavaskar said in a conversation with India Today that the hands of the players are tied in the matter as they follow the orders of the BCCI and the government. They said,

“If the government has decided, it would be wrong to blame the players. They are contracted from the BCCI and play only on the government’s instructions.”

He further said, “If the government says, they will play, and if the government does not say, then the decision will be taken accordingly.”

No possibility of refusal is not ruled out

When Gavaskar was asked if India could refuse to play a match against Pakistan, he did not deny it. However, he clearly stated that the final decision depends entirely on the government and the BCCI.
