Police commissioner system will now be started in Chhattisgarh, CM Vishnu Dev Sai announced, know how will work?


The police commissioner system is going to be implemented in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai made an official announcement at the Independence Day celebrations. This decision is being considered important with the point of view of strengthening the law and order of the state and giving more rights to the police. The Sai Sarkar commissioner system will first start in Raipur. If the pilot project is successful, its scope will be increased. After Raipur, it will be implemented in other districts including Bilaspur, Durg. According to police officials, administrative preparations to start from Raipur are almost complete.

Police powers will increase

This will increase the powers of the police. This system was being discussed for a long time and the Sai government decided to implement it fast. The powers of police officers increase when the commissioner system is implemented. According to the information, this system will be applicable in districts with more than 10 lakh population. In such a situation, Raipur, Durg and Bilaspur will be the major cities, where its scope can be increased further. Under this system, senior police officers will be able to take direct action in many cases under the Criminal Procedure Code. This will make it possible to take immediate prevention and quick decision on crimes.

This will be setup

Police Commissioner will be the IG level officers in this system. There will be two to three additional Police Commissioners (DIG, SSP rank) for their cooperation. Apart from this, seven Deputy Commissioners (ASPs), 16 to 17 DSPs, 10 inspectors and about 25 SI-ASI-Constables will be deployed. In this system, the police commissioner will directly get the rights in matters related to law and order, who used to live with the collector earlier. It will be the implementation of the profitable system, the police will get freedom in many sensitive cases. Cases like arms licenses, hotel-bar permission, picketing approval, force use and land disputes will be settled directly at the police level. At the same time, police commissioner will be able to issue restrictive orders like magistrates.

Raipur will be distributed in eight to 10 zones

The city will be divided into eight to 10 zones under the commissioner system. The responsibility of the zone will be on the DCP (Deputy Commissioner of Police), under whom ACP (Assistant Commissioner of Police) will work. Each ACP will have two to three police stations. The police commissioner will conduct the entire system, who will be senior IPS officers of ADG rank. In these major cities of the country, the Lagupulis Commissioner system is already applicable in many major cities and districts of the country. These include Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, Bhopal, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Pune, Kanpur, Lucknow, Noida, Varanasi, Agra, Prayagraj and Ghaziabad.
