An Air India Express aircraft carrying 160 passengers from Bangalore failed to land at Gwalior Airport on Saturday afternoon, but in the second attempt safely landed. The airline said that the aircraft made a round and then made safe and without any incident. Gwalior Airport director AK Goswami said that the aircraft later flew to Bengaluru and reached there safely. He said that due to lack of landing in the first attempt, there was chaos among the passengers for a while.
He said that technical staff examined the aircraft after landing and could not find any malfunction. Goswami also said that the absence of landing in the first attempt is a common phenomenon. Another official said that some passengers lodged a complaint with the airport and airline officials after getting off the aircraft.
Safe Landing in Gwalior
A spokesperson of the Air India Express said in a statement that one of our aircraft made a round and then made a safe and landing in Gwalior without any incident. The statement said, the crew is trained to go-around as a precautionary measure when needed.
Back of the aircraft hit the ground
While landing at the airport on Saturday, the back of the Indigo passenger aircraft from Bangkok collided with the ground, due to which the aviation safety regulator DGCA has ordered an inquiry into the incident. He said that both the pilots of Airbus A321 Neo have been removed from the aircraft till the investigation is completed. The Indigo spokesperson said in a statement that the rear part of IndiGo’s Airbus A321 aircraft collided with the runway while flying at low altitude due to adverse weather in Mumbai on August 16.
According to Flyterdar 24.com, a website giving information about the flight situation, the airline’s flight 6060 left from Bangkok at 12.12 pm (local time) instead of its scheduled departure at 11.40 pm (local time) and landed at Mumbai Airport at 3.04 am instead of 2.50 am.
The aircraft tried to land twice
The airline said that the aircraft tried to land twice and safely landed. A senior official of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said that we will investigate the incident. According to the Indian Meteorological Department, more than 200 mm of rain was recorded in many parts of Mumbai between 8.30 am to 5.30 am on Friday.
