Attention Terror of dogs increased in Raipur… Dog byte cases doubled

In the capital Raipur, cases of dog bites are increasing at a worrying speed. The data from Dr. Ambedkar Hospital and District Health Office shows that in the first seven months of 2025, the number of dog byte patients has almost doubled compared to last year.

From January to July this year, 2515 patients at Ambedkar Hospital arrived at the hospital’s OPD for treatment, while in the year 2024 this number was 1333 in these seven months. At the same time, in other government hospitals of the district, about five thousand dogs have reached these seven months.

According to the hospital administration, on an average more than 20 people are reaching the hospital after the bite of dogs. These include children and elderly. Doctors say that it is very important to get anti-rabies vaccine on time, otherwise the risk of deadly disease like rabies increases.

Dr. Ambedkar reached the hospital so many cases

According to the data of 2024, 272 patients were registered in January, 212 in February, 239 in March, April 202, 191 in May, 205 in June and 239 in July.

366 in January 2025, 337 in February, 442 in March, 273 in April, 378 in May, 337 in June and 382 in July. In just 7 months, 1182 cases are more comparatively seen, so this year in only seven months, patients have reached more hospitals from last year.

Significantly, this growth is not only worrisome but also warns for the municipal corporation and district administration that both control and awareness campaign is needed.

Rescue is the biggest solution

Senior doctors of the hospital say that in the case of dog bite, the wound should be washed immediately with soap and clean water and should be vaccinated at the hospital as soon as possible. Delay treatment can spread infection and increases the risk of rabies, which is almost always fatal.

Questions arising on the municipal corporation

There is an atmosphere of panic among the people due to the continuous increase in the number of stray dogs in the city. In the morning and evening, dogs walking in the form of flocks in roads, parks and colonies often attack passers and two -wheelers. Naresh Sahu says that the sterilization and control of dogs by the Municipal Corporation is not sufficient.

Anti rabies vaccine is available in sufficient quantity in all hospitals, people will have to be aware that if there is a case of dog bite, get anti rabies injections within 24 hours.
