In December 2024 in Syria, the 24 -year -old rule of President Bashar al -Assad fell after the coup. At that time it was expected that a better and accountable governance system would now be established in the country. But the latest report of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights presents the picture exactly the opposite of these expectations.
According to the report, 9,889 people have died in Syria on 8 December 2024, from the collapse of the old regime to 6 August 2025. These deaths have been caused by continuous violence, atrocities being done through domestic and foreign forces and comprehensive security chaos. It was told in this report that there were 7,449 common people among those who died, including 396 children and 541 women. These figures show how delicate the situation in Syria and how big the weakest sections of the society are in trouble.
The truth is being suppressed-Report
It was also said in the report that in most cases no responsibility of anyone is fixed. Many times the accused are being saved and the truth is being suppressed or broken. Giving an example, the Observatorry said that the fact-finding committee that was formed to investigate the massacres in the coastal areas, does not match the real incidents. At the same time, pro -government groups are running such campaigns with social media and other circles, which are the purpose of defaming those institutions which are bringing out the truth of excesses.
Thousands of innocents are in jail
The Observatory also told that thousands of people are still in jail without any case. Some of these were arrested after the fall of the old regime, and some were caught on the red or checkpost. Many of them do not have any concrete allegations. Is jailed without any legal process.
