Construction completed in three months between inaccessible region and adverse conditions
Dao Nurti, husband of Dasari Bai Nuruti, who lives in Ulia Gram Panchayat of Koylibeda development block, about 200 km from Kanker district headquarters, died in the Maoist incident during the assembly elections. In the PM Awas Yojana, his residence was approved in March this year as part of a special project for Naxal victim families. Construction of his residence started in May. Now the construction of his residence has been completed within a short period of just three months. Despite the difficult situations due to Dasari Bai’s encouragement, the housing was prepared in a very short time and his family got a pucca house.
Dasari Bai says that due to the Vananchal and remote area, there were many practical problems in the construction of housing. There is no route for four wheelers due to being far from the block headquarters. For this reason, there was a lot of difficulties in bringing construction materials. It was very difficult to reach a two -wheeler in the rain, due to which the masons and laborers refused to reach on time. Due to the internal area, bringing construction materials was expensive than the normal area.
Dasari Bai says that the officials of Kanker District Administration, Gram Panchayat and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana got a lot of support to complete the housing work fast. Gram Panchayat and Housing Toli helped a lot in the arrangement of construction materials and in the system of masons and workers. She says that the government has formulated a sensitive and effective policy to rehabilitate Naxal victims and Naxalites who surrender. With the continuous cooperation of governance and administration, its pucca habitat has become in a very short time.
Family living in a raw house with roof dripping for years

In 2005, her husband Masa Sodi was murdered by Naxalites on suspicion of informant. His family was forced to live in a raw house for years in poverty, where there was a danger of life from roof and poisonous insects dripping in the rain.
Sodi Hungi received a total of one lakh 35 thousand rupees in three installments in a phased manner when the housing was approved under the special project in the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural). Due to technical guidance of Gram Panchayat and monitoring from time to time, construction of his residence was completed in July this year. Now she lives in her firm new house with family.
