Possibility of getting palace and fort 30 feet below in Raipur, 2100 years old evidence found in excavation

Nearly 2,100 years old remains are being claimed to be found behind Girija Shankar School near Mahadev Ghat. This discovery took place while leveling a private land. After this, the Archaeological Department has decided to preserve the region.

In March, a private owner was leveled to 36 acres of land. Then during the excavation, he found some antiques at a depth of one to two feet. These items include iron hair, modesty, old stone and earthen pots.

Here, as soon as the information was received, the team of Archeology Department reached the spot and after initial investigation, a five -member committee was formed. The committee conducted a thorough survey of the entire area and submitted its report to the Collector and the State Government.

According to the report of the committee, this site is historically very important and there are many other ancient structures like the palace and fort 30 feet below the land. For this reason, the administration has immediately banned all kinds of construction works on this land.

Signs of 2,100 year old civilization

Seeing the remains found in the beginning, the authorities considered it to be of Kalchuri period (about 1,000 years old). However, the site is more than 2,100 years old after a thorough investigation of more evidence found later. This discovery can prove to be a major archaeological achievement in Raipur just like Rewa.

Archaeologists believe that this place must have been in the form of a mound. Because it is situated on the banks of the Kharun River. In ancient civilizations, people often lived on the banks of the river. Therefore, it is very much likely that an ancient settlement or city was situated at this place.

Preparation to handover the land

In order to start the excavation work, the Archaeological Department has demanded the administration to take this 36 acre land under its authority. A letter has also been sent by the department for this. According to sources, the owner of the land i.e. private builders are adamant on starting construction work here. They are making every effort to allow them to work as soon as possible.
