No enemies, nor involved in any war… then why is Kuwait buying Danadan weapon?

Defense cooperation is increasing between Kuwait and China

The Middle East is in discussion about the stress of Israel and Iran these days. Both are staunch enemies of each other and recently some peace has come after 12 days long war. In such an environment, there is an eye on the military preparations of these two countries and the purchase of weapons. But there is a country in this turbulent region that is neither involved in any war nor does he currently have any enemy, that is Kuwait.

Although Kuwait considers himself a quiet country, he is also rapidly investing on weapons. The special thing is that it has now moved towards preparing a large number of weapons with China, an important defense project ammunition construction factory between Kuwait and China is almost complete and it is likely to be inaugurated soon. This information was given by Kuwait Deputy Defense Minister Sheikh Abdullah Mashal al-Sab.

Ammunition will be made in the factory

According to Kuwait Times, Sheikh Abdullah made this statement at a ceremony organized by the Chinese Embassy on the anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). He called it a milestone of military cooperation between the two countries and said that the scope of military training programs running since 2019 is increasing every year. Although not much information has been made public about the factory, but according to reports, light and medium -ranked ammunition will be prepared in it.

Trying to make balance with two superpowers

It is worth noting that Kuwait has also been a close military partner of America. During the Gulf War in 1991, the US alliance liberated Kuwait from the Iraqi army. Currently there are 13,500 American soldiers and more than 2,200 MRAP vehicles.

Despite this, Kuwait is also bending fast towards China. In 1995, he became the first Gulf country to enacting a military agreement with China. Since then, China has given him 155 mm cannons and the naval party of PLA has visited Kuwait thrice.

World’s 10th weapon importing country

According to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), between 2020 and 2024, Kuwait was the 10th largest weapon importer in the world and increased his imports by 466%. Meanwhile, the US supplied 63% of its total weapons. According to an intelligence institution called Tactical Report, China has also offered to meet most of Kuwait’s defense needs unconditionally. However, this report could not be confirmed.
