Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday termed the recent free trade agreement (FTA) between India and Britain as historic and said that this trade agreement reflects the world’s trust in India. Regarding Operation Sindoor, he said that the weapons manufactured under the Make in India initiative played a big role in destroying the enemy’s hideouts during the cross -border military campaign and made the enemies sleep.

The Prime Minister inaugurated, inaugurated and founded the projects costing Rs 4,900 crore here and explained the commitment of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government towards the development of Tamil Nadu.

Trade Agreement with Britain historic

In his address after inaugurating the projects, PM Modi said that after completing his foreign tour, he has become blessed directly to Tamil Nadu. During this time, the Indo-Bitten Free Trade Agreement was signed before his visit to Maldives. He said that the trade agreement with Britain is historic.

If Indian products are cheap, then demand will increase there and this will create more opportunities for production in India. Due to this free trade agreement, the youth of Tamil Nadu, small businesses, MSMEs and Startups will get great benefits.

Promising a developed India and Tamil Nadu, he said that infrastructure and energy are the backbone of development of any state. Our focus on infrastructure and energy in the last 11 years shows our commitment to the development of Tamil Nadu.

Thousands of employment opportunities

Modi said that the NDA government has constructed Atal Setu, Sonamarg Tunnel, Bogibeel bridge in different parts of the country and thousands of employment opportunities have been created from them. Regarding the railway, he said that this is the lifeline of industrial development. These projects are related to airports, highways, railways, ports and electricity in Tamil Nadu. The projects that were inaugurated include a new state -of -the -art Tuticorin Airport Terminal Building, which has been developed at an estimated cost of about Rs 450 crore.

Over 20 lakh passengers host

The Prime Minister said that the mission started in 2014 to take Tamil Nadu to the pinnacle of development is still going on in Tuticorin. He recalled the inauguration of several projects including the container terminal last year. He said that the terminal is now capable of hosting more than 2 million passengers annually, whereas earlier it had its capacity of only three lakh passengers.

In the energy sector, Modi laid the foundation stone of the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS) for the evacuation of electricity from the unit 3 and 4 (2 × 1000 MW) of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant. Developed at a cost of about Rs 550 crore, the project will include a 400 kV (quad) double-circuit transmission line from Kudankulam (Tirunelveli) to Tutukudi-II GIS substation and related terminal devices.

American businessman Bill Gates gifts

This will play an important role in strengthening the national grid, ensuring reliable clean energy distribution and meeting Tamil Nadu and other beneficiary states. He reminded that he gifted the famous pearls of Tuticorin to the famous American businessman Bill Gates, who had highly appreciated it.

Symbol of India’s economic power

The pearls of Tuticorin region were once considered a symbol of India’s economic power worldwide. The Prime Minister said that the vision of developed Tamil Nadu is the main commitment of the Central Government and the policies related to the development of Tamil Nadu have been continuously given top priority. PM Modi said that in the last decade, the central government has transferred three lakh crore rupees to Tamil Nadu, which is more than three times the amount distributed by the previous government. In these 11 years, Tamil Nadu has got eleven new medical colleges.

He said that for the first time, a government has shown concern about communities associated with fisheries sector in coastal areas. On this occasion, he remembered the great freedom fighters of the region – VO Chidambaram Pillai, Virpandia Kattabomman and Veeran Azgu Muthukon.

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi also attended the event. State Finance Minister Thangam Thenarasu presented a souvenirs, a memento of the prestigious Valluvar Kottam of Chennai to the Prime Minister on the occasion. Union Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu, Union Minister of State L. Murugan, Social Welfare Minister of Tamil Nadu, P Geeta Jeevan, Lok Sabha member Kanimoi and top officials participated in it.
