On Saturday, the CBI special court rejected the bail plea of four accused in the Medical College bribery case associated with Rawatpura Sarkar Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Nawa Raipur. Rawatpura College Director Atul Kumar Tiwari, Dr. Manjappa CN, Dr. Chitra MS and Dr. Satisha A.
The court took this decision on the sensitivity of the case and on the basis that all the accused are residents of other states, due to which there is a possibility of their absconding. The CBI Special Judge, after hearing the arguments of both the parties, dismissed the petition that the investigation in the case is still in the initial stages and the allegations are of serious nature. The next hearing will be held on August 4.
Significantly, in this case, there is a charge of taking a bribe of Rs 55 lakh to get recognition from the Medical Council in a fake way. According to the CBI FIR, the amount was transferred through hawala channels so that the inspection report of the National Medical Commission (NMC) could come in favor.
The CBI caught the inspection team red handed taking bribe. The investigation has ruled out that there has been corruption in the name of getting recognition in medical colleges of many states including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
Hearing on revision petition against Bhupesh on 26 August
The hearing of the alleged pornographic CDCand will be held on 26 August in the Special Court of CBI. A revision petition filed by the CBI against former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel was to be heard, on which the defense had to submit his argument.
The hearing on the application of Kailash Murarka, Vijay Bhatia, Vinod Verma and Vijay Pandya, who was accused in the same case, was also scheduled. The CBI requested the court to present time to present its case in both these cases, which the special judge accepted and extended the date of hearing.
Significantly, in the alleged sex CDCand, former CM Bhupesh Baghel was destroyed by the charge. CBI has filed a revision petition against this. Other accused in the CDCand have also submitted applications, questioning the CBI investigation and describing themselves as innocent.
