In Abujhmad areas of Bastar, people of tribal community give homes to souls and worship souls. He invites souls and worships for the prosperity of the family. The tradition of giving homes to souls in the villages of Abujhmad has been going on for years. People of this village do not believe in Peetar or Pitrupaksha. He says that he keeps the souls of his ancestors in the house of souls and worships them. Here the souls of ancestors are kept and worshiped in the Handis.
They worship souls daily
In tribal society, it is called Kudma. Aana Kudma means the house of the soul. Giving information about the worship of these villages and souls, former Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Scheduled Tribes Commission, Devlal Dugga said that the people of the tribal society believe that the souls of their ancestors are true here, which are worshiped daily.
Souls are given invitation
Not only this, when there is a marriage in the village, the spirits are invited before that and then those souls give their blessings to the couple. Along with this, new crops in the village are also not used without offering souls. If someone forgets this and does this, then there is a crisis in the village. After this, a mistake is considered and the puja is recited.
Pitras residence in handi
Devlal Dugga said that people of tribal society have a lot of faith in ‘Ana Kudma’. The village has a small room house like a temple, in which a clay hand is kept. It is said that the ancestors of the tribal community reside in this handi. Every house in these villages has a room of ancestors. The number of people of a gotra is more in the tribal village. In such a situation, when someone dies, the people of that gotra establish their souls in the kudma, which are worshiped.
These souls protect them from evil spirits
It is said that these souls protect the people of the village from evil spirits. Devlal Dugga said that God resides in the soul itself. People of tribal society worship their ancestors. Special occasions, such as these souls are worshiped and blessed in special occasions, such as festivals or marriage. But only men can go to the house of these souls. The departure of women or girls here is strictly prohibited. The wedding rituals also begin only after inviting souls.
