Justice Verma Impeachment
Impeachment will be done against Justice Yashwant Verma regarding the cash scandal. For this, signature of MPs of all parties was taken. Most of the MPs of all small and big parties are in favor of this impeachment motion. About 208 MPs have supported this proposal. The notice submitted to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has been signed by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, Anurag Thakur and a total of 145 members. At the same time, 63 MPs have signed the notice handed over to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar.
The proposal to remove a judge should be signed by at least 100 MPs in the Lok Sabha and 50 in Rajya Sabha. It is in the authority of the speaker to accept or not to accept the impeachment motion. In case of acceptance of the proposal, the committee will be formed, which will report in one to three months. If the proposal comes into force, the House will be processed on the impeachment motion in the winter session itself.
