Mahakaleshwar Temple of Ujjain

On the second monsoon of Sawan, the religious city of Madhya Pradesh, Ujjain Baba Mahakal, was completely drenched in devotion. In the world famous Mahakaleshwar temple, the temple’s doors were opened for devotees at 2:30 am on Monday and traditional Bhasma Aarti. The temple complex echoed with the jayghosh of Jai Shri Mahakal.

According to Pandit Mahesh Sharma, priest of Mahakaleshwar temple, Lord Virbhadra was worshiped before Bhasma Aarti. After this, the main gates of silver were opened and all the gods located in the sanctum sanctorum were worshiped.

Baba Mahakal was specially decorated

The Jalabhishek of Baba Mahakal was done with Panchamrit – Dudh, curd, ghee, sugar, fruit juice. Then the water of ‘Hari Om’ was offered and Ghantal was played. After this, a special decoration of Baba Mahakal was done in which the paste of cannabis, the sun sign on the forehead and silver coil in the ears. At the end of the puja, Kapoor Aarti was done by performing new crowns and garlands of Rudraksha.

The Shivalinga was consumed by Mahanirvani Akhara. Thousands of devotees gathered in the temple premises to witness this supernatural scene and took advantage of the divine darshan.

Today Baba Mahakal’s second royal ride will come out

The second ride in the month of Shravan-Bhadrapada month will go on a city tour on Monday, July 21. In this ride, Lord Chandramouleshwar will give darshan to the devotees by riding on the palanquin and Lord Manmahesh elephant. Prior to the ride, the temple will be duly worshiped. After this, Baba’s ride will be saluted by the armed police force at the main gate of the temple. The traditional route will leave the ride on the city tour.

This time, cultural colors will also be seen on the initiative of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav in the ride. The ride will include teams of 8 tribal artists, who will give their traditional performances throughout the route. These cultural parties will make the grand procession of Lord Mahakal even more supernatural. Ujjain will once again be immersed in the Triveni of devotion, tradition and culture.
