Lalit Narayan Kataria, Naiduniya, Bhopal. The Asian Roying Championship from Bhopal has been taken away from Bhopal in the name of Tension born from Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. At a time when the sports and youth welfare department of the state was busy preparing for the Bada Talab and the surroundings, it has been reported to host the competition. This prestigious competition was to be held from 14 to 19 October.
On 22 April, 26 tourists were killed by terrorists in Pahalgam. In his response, Operation Sindoor started on the night of six-seven May. The ceasefire was announced on 10 May. Conditions started becoming normal in the next two days. Under these situations, on 16 May, the then president of the Indian Rowing Federation, Rajyalakshmi Singhdev wrote a letter to the General Secretary of the Asian Rowing Federation.
Hosted to Vietnam
It said that uncertainty about the event has increased due to the stressful situation of the country. In such a situation, India will not be able to host the Asian Rowing Championship-2025 held in Bhopal. On the basis of this letter, the Asian Rowing Federation canceled Bhopal and gave it to Vietnam.
Now the event will be held from 16 to 19 October in Heipong city. If the sports department has now come to know about it, then there is a panic. The department is going to register an official objection against it.
Not even asked anyone before leaving hosting
The Indian Rowing Federation did not even interact with the Central Government and the State Government before this decision, which demolished the country’s reputation. When asked in this regard, the then chairman of the Federation, Rajyalkashmi Singhdev, said that the Sports Department of Madhya Pradesh had not approached him for preparations. He felt that in such a situation we would not be able to organize.
Other international competitions unaffected
- IPL and Indian Grandprix Athletics Championships were held in April-May.
- The Asia Cup hockey competition is going to take place in Rajgir, Bihar in August. In this, the team of Pakistan and China is also coming to India.
- The ICC will be the World Cup of Women’s Cricket in September.
- The BWF World Junior Championship Badminton Competition is to be held in Guwahati in October.
India players will suffer loss
If this championship was in India, 22-22 players from India would have participated in both women and male sections, but now this number would be totaling 10 or 11. Women and men category are to be 10-10 events. Preparations were being made towards Khanugaon of the big pond for the event. The event would open the way for international sports events in Bhopal.
Writing letters to register objection
