A shocking case has come up from Afghanistan. Where a 45 -year -old man bought a 6 -year -old girl and married her. US -based Afghan media outlet Amu.TV said that the Taliban became ‘frightened’ on hearing this news and they stopped the man from taking the girl home. The Taliban reportedly said that the girl can be taken to her husband’s house at the age of nine. This case has come out from Helmand province of Afghanistan, which has created resentment among the people, but so far this marriage is maintained.
According to Hasht-e-Sabah Daily, the person who marries the girl already has two wives, to marry the girl, she gave the girl’s family money in exchange for marriage. The Taliban has arrested the girl’s father and groom. However, no person has been accused.
Child marriage increased under Taliban rule
Since the Taliban returned to power in 2021, there has been an increase in child marriage and forced marriage in the country. Child marriages are already more in Afghanistan. Many restrictions imposed on women by the Taliban have increased them further. However, the Taliban is keeping an eye on such matters and is taking several steps to stop them.
The United Nations Women’s Agency stated last year that due to these sanctions, 25 percent in child marriage across the country has increased and the rate of child has increased by 45 percent. UNICEF says that the number of child brothers in Afghanistan is the highest worldwide.
Girls are being dealt with
Afghanistan has not emerged from poverty after the 20 -year war and due to international sanctions. In some far -flung areas of Afghan, girls are still dealt with for every day, a price that is often given to their families on the basis of their form, health and level of education. Poor people are often forced to sell their girls for money.
A village activist Mehboob told The Afghan Times, “There are many families in our village who have sold their daughters for money. Nobody helps them. People are frustrated.”
