The name of Jashpur district of Chhattisgarh is echoing across the country these days, the credit for which 22 -year -old young runner Animesh Kujur goes. He surprised everyone by completing the 100 meter race in Dromia International Sprint Meet held in Wari city of Greece on July 5 in just 10.18 seconds. With this performance he finished third, proving that even the small village Ghitangar can be successful at the international level.

Started playing football, inspiring to become a runner

Animesh’s parents are employed in the police department in Baladaubazar district. Father Amrit Kujur is a DSP in the traffic department, while mother Reena Kujur is also a DSP in the police department. Due to his father’s job, Animesh reached Ambikapur with his family, where he was admitted to Sainik School. Amrit said that the discipline and hard work of Sainik School gave a new direction to the life of Animesh. Maintained medals in national and international competitions

Animesh was selected in the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare for various race competitions, where he received a gold medal. Animesh secured fourth position while participating in the National Games held in Guwahati, Assam without training. He then trained him by Reliance Academy, making him consecutive medals in national and international competitions. Amrit Kujur said that he got information about Animesh’s achievement on the phone, and when he came to know that Animesh broke Gurindervir Singh’s record and became the fastest runner of India, he was proud of the son’s achievement.
