Indigenous mounted gun system ready.
To strengthen the security of the country, DRDO has achieved another major achievement. DRDO’s Vehicle Research and Development Establishment (VRDE) has fully designed indigenous mounted gun system (MGS), which will soon join the Indian Army.
What is mounted gun system?
The mounted gun system i.e. a heavy cannon, which is placed on a high-dubility armed truck. It is a 155 mm/52 caliber cannon, which has a firepower of 45 kilometers. The most important thing is that this cannon is ready for firing in just 85 seconds and can fract 6 shells in 1 minute.
There can be deployment anywhere
The biggest strength of this gun is its high mobility system. Whether it is the hot desert of Rajasthan or icy peaks of Siachen, this cannon can be easily deployed in every area. Its transportation is also easy, it can be transported anywhere from the train or heavy transport aircraft of the Air Force.
Shoot and scoot… the enemy will not even know
- The mounted gun system has a shoot and scoot technique. Meaning it can change the place immediately by firing rapidly, so that the enemy does not retaliate. This will greatly benefit the army and the security of the soldiers will also increase.
- This heavy cannon system can run at a speed of 60 km per hour in bumpy areas and 90 km per hour in the flat area.
- Its total weight is about 30 tonnes, which weighs 15 tons of guns and 15 tons of trucks.
- The gun has an advance Atags (attack gun system), which is already included in the Indian Army.
- It is completely automatic. After feeding the location, he immediately attacks and attacks.
- About 50 square meters can destroy an area in a fire.
- This gun has a bulletproof cabin for seven crew members, due to which the soldiers are completely safe.
Ready for just 15 crore rupees
According to sources, about 700 to 800 mounted gun systems are needed for the Indian Army. The special thing is that it will take 30 to 35 crore rupees to order such a cannon from abroad. But this gun made in India is getting ready for only 15 crores. This can be more cheap when received more orders. According to sources, the army is going to do the field trial of this system soon. After this it will be first deployed in areas where there are fast movement and high hill or desert areas like Rajasthan, Punjab border, north-eastern state and Siachen.
India joined the selected countries of the world
Till now only the countries of the world have been able to make such mounted guns. Now India has also become self -sufficient in this technology. The Russian-Ukraine war has clearly shown that such a gun can change the direction of any war. With this success of DRDO and VRDE, the strength of the Indian Army will increase manifold and this cannon will prove to be a gamechanger in giving a befitting reply to the enemy.
