The Financial Services Department (DFS) and the Ministry of Finance have denied the news in which banks have been directed to close passive Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana accounts. Significantly, the Financial Services Department has said that it has not asked the banks to close the inactive Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana accounts regarding the media reports related to the closure of inactive Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana accounts by the DFS, Finance Ministry.
It is noteworthy that a three -month campaign has been launched by DFS to adopt Jan Dhan Yojana, Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana across the country from 1 July. Banks will also re -KYC of all the dues during this campaign.
The Financial Services Department continuously monitors the number of passive PMJDY accounts and banks have been advised to contact the respective account holders to bring their accounts into operation. The trend of continuous increase in the total number of PMJDY accounts has been observed and no incident has come to the notice of the large -scale closure of passive PMJDY accounts.
