The continuous rains in the district have completely submerged the paddy collection center of Amortal village in water. About 4 lakh quintals of paddy kept here are drenched and sprouted and rotting, due to which there has been a loss of crores of rupees.
It is being told that the government had purchased more than 63 lakh quintals of paddy in the district. The milling work of this paddy could not be completed yet, and a large amount of paddy was kept in the open in the Amortal center. Due to continuous rains for the last one week, all this paddy has been completely submerged in water and now sprouts have started bursting in it.
MLA Vyas Kashyap has expressed deep resentment over the entire matter. He said that the regime and marketing department has made mockery of farmers’ hard work and their hard earned money. Crores of rupees were spent in the name of keeping millions of quintals of paddy safe, but the result is in front.
The MLA has demanded strict action against the guilty officers and employees.
Meanwhile, employees of the collection center are now trying to hide the situation. Efforts are being made to show the sprouted and rotten paddy in other sacks and show it right.
Villagers and farmers say that if caution was taken during paddy collection, this loss could have been avoided. If there was timely milling of paddy or there was a provision of cover before rain, then there would not be such a big waste.
