Shivraj Singh expressed displeasure over removing tribals from forest land, removed Sehore’s DFO

Today, in the presence of Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan at Bhopal residence, he met citizens of the tribal community affected by the action of the Forest Department for the Khivani Sanctuary.

Here, Manavar MLA and National Conservator of Jayas, Dr. Hiralal, said on breaking the houses of tribals in Khivani-Khivani sanctuary located in Dewas district of Madhya Pradesh, has been lifan of tribal communities nearby for years. The land, forest and resources here have been part of the livelihood, culture and identity of the tribals for centuries.

But by declaring Khivani as a sanctuary, now the tribals are being evicted from their ancestral land in a planned manner by the Forest Department. The houses of more than 80 tribal families were demolished without notice and rehabilitation arrangements amidst heavy rains. It is not only a violation of the Forest Rights Act 2006, but also a direct violation of Article 21 of the Constitution. This is a conspiracy to remove tribals from the forest.

The resentment of tribal society is increasing in the case of breaking the houses of tribals in Khivani of Khatgaon assembly constituency of Dewas district. On June 23, in Khivani, the Forest Department had run bulldozers on more than 50 houses of tribals. Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar targeted Shivraj Singh Chauhan and CM for this incident.
