In the ongoing controversy over the Punjabi film ‘Surder G3’, famous lyricist-screenwriter Javed Akhtar has given opinion in favor of the film. After Imtiaz Ali called Diljit Dosanjh a “patriot”, the film is in the fire of new debate as Pakistani actress Hania Aamir is seen in it.
Javed Akhtar believes: Inappropriate economic pressure on the manufacturer
In a conversation with the media, Javed Akhtar said, “If this film was made when the situation was normal, how can the manufacturer be guilty for him? If something has gone wrong then the loss will be of the Indian manufacturer, not the Pakistani.”
He added further:
“If the manufacturer would have already feared that something could happen, they do not cast Hania. The government and the censor board should show softening in this matter and give a warning, ‘Ainda should not be so.’ With this, the film should not be released on the basis of controversy on the film.
Film industry condemnation and Diljit’s attitude
Earlier, FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) warned Diljit Dosanjh that if he did not leave work with the Pakistani artist, his film and concerts could be banned in India including Delhi. At the same time, Diljit said in an interview to the media Network, “Nothing was controversial when I signed the film. Now that the film is ready for international release, I have to support the producer.”
Now international release is option
‘Surder G3’ was originally scheduled to release on June 27, but due to the controversy (Diljit Dosanjh), it is now being released internationally only. Diljit shared the trailer of his film on social media, in which he is seen in a romantic scene with Hania Aamir.
