A suicide attack took place on Saturday in the northern Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in Pakistan. After this, 16 soldiers died and 25 people were injured, including both military personnel and citizens. A local government official said that the suicide bomber hit an explosive vehicle in a military convoy. This killed 16 soldiers and injured 6 military personnel and 19 citizens. The roofs of two houses collapsed in the attack, due to which six children were also injured.
Hafiz Gul Bahadur branch of Pakistan Taliban has taken responsibility for this attack. According to an administrative official, the condition of 4 injured soldiers is critical. It is known that since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021, violence has increased in the border areas of Pakistan. Islamabad alleges that Afghanistan is allowing its land to be used for attacks against Pakistan, which has been rejected by the Taliban. Since the beginning of this year, about 290 people (mostly security personnel) have been killed in attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan so far.

Local administration has been instructed to ensure pre-poll measures to minimize possible damage and activate contingency schemes.
