The Kolkata Police on Saturday formed a five -member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the alleged gang rape by her seniors at a law college in the city. An official gave this information.
He informed that the five -member SIT will be headed by an officer of Assistant Commissioner level. “An SIT has been set up to investigate the alleged crime. It will immediately start its investigation.” On June 25, three people, including an alumnus of the institute, were allegedly gangraped by a 24 -year -old student of the South Calcutta Law College. Following his complaint, the police arrested the main accused Manjit Mishra, Promit Mukherjee and Zaid Ahmed. The college guard was also arrested on Saturday morning.
The number of people arrested has increased to four in connection with this incident in the security guard room of the college campus. The official said the security guard detained for questioning was later arrested. He said, ‘We arrested the security guard this morning as his answers were unclear. CCTV footage revealed his presence in the college.
Guard arrested due to vague answer
The official said, “The guard did not give a clear answer to why he did not take appropriate action and why did not stop the three accused from committing crime.” Also, he has to explain why and on whose instruction he left his room. This is also a kind of involvement in crime.
The twenty -four -year -old girl went to college to fill the form for an examination and even after the completion of the work, she was forced to stay in the union room. It is alleged that the alumni and the lawyer of criminal cases raped the student after rejecting the marriage proposal. At the same time, two current students of the college were making videos of this act on their mobile phones. The victim alleged that all this happened to her from around 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm.
