Currently, Goncha Mahaparva is a festival that is considered a symbol of social harmony and love in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh, creating the historical and cultural heritage of Bastar. This festival has been observed continuously for more than six hundred years, and it is one of the longest festivals after Bastar Dussehra.
Invitation and honor to Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai
Recently, CM Vishnu Dev Sai was formally invited by the delegation of Goncha Mahaparva Organizing Committee at his residence. The delegation was led by Jagdalpur MLA Mr. Kiran Dev. On this occasion, according to the traditional culture of Bastar, the Chief Minister was honored by offering ‘Tupaki’ to the Chief Minister, which is a specific symbol of this festival.
CM Vishnu Dev Tupaki: part of the traditions of the festival
The special identity of Goncha Mahaparva is ‘Tupaki’, which is a unique cultural heritage of Bastar. This poli is made from bamboo, in which the fruit of a particular plant is pressed, which causes cracker -like sounds. This tradition is not only a means of entertainment, but also a symbol of mutual enthusiasm and solidarity among the community.
Major dates of Goncha Mahaparva
This year, Goncha Mahaparva (CM Vishnu Dev) started with Chandan Yatra from 11 June. The major events of the festival include Netriotsav Puja on 26 June and Shri Goncha Rath Yatra on 27 June. The festival will conclude on July 5 with Bahuda Goncha Rath Yatra. This entire event not only holds religious significance, but is also a lively example of regional culture and conservation of traditions.

Accepting the invitation, Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai thanked the organizing committee and greeted Goncha Mahaparva’s success. He said that this festival works to save our cultural identity and connect society.
