Railway e-ticket racket busted, about 2 lakh tickets were seized under operation ‘available’


A major action has been carried out under the guidance of Divisional Railway Manager Shri Devashish Tripathi and under the direction of Senior Divisional Safety Commissioner, Railway Protection Force, Bhopal under “Operation available” on Bhopal division. This action was taken with the objective of preventing cyber offenses and ensuring transparency of railway ticket system.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Shri Saurabh Kataria said that after verification of input received from cyber cell Bhopal, on 17 June 2025, Sub -Inspector Shri Prakash Raghuvanshi and his team were arrested by Shahbaz Khan (age 19 years) from Bhopal from Nehru Nagar, Sikandari Sarai, Bhopal.

A total of 75 reserved e-tickets (total prices ₹ 1,62,501/-) were seized from the possession of the accused using 22 different individual user IDs. Along with this, a mobile phone used in ticket construction was also recovered. Videography of complete action was conducted and in the relevant case, a case has been duly investigated by registering a case under Section 143 of the Railway Act under the crime.

The address of the accused is certified and the penalty is less than seven years old, so following the guidelines of the Honorable Supreme Court, the accused was banned by directing them to appear on the upcoming court date through the information letter.
The railway administration is committed to maintaining the convenience, safety and purity of the ticket system of passengers and will continue strict monitoring and proceedings against such illegal activities.
