Korba,
In the first quarter of the current financial year, the movement of landlords is becoming a hindrance in achieving the target from production as expected. There has been agitation more than 10 times in the last about two and a half months, during which coal mining, mines expansion work was stopped.
Now the 18 -day period of the first quarter is left. SECL’s Mega Projects Gavra, Deepka and Kusmunda have the highest participation in the total production of coal company. In these mines, there has also been a captive movement of the landlords. During the mining work on Jatraj’s acquired land for coal mine expansion, the protests were affected by the protests affected by the Kusmunda mine last month. Coal production has not started from Ambika Mines of SECL Korba area. The reason for this is believed to stop the removal of soil repeatedly by the landlords of mines affected village Karatli.
The mining work was also affected by the landlords within coal mines. On April 16, the Energy in Gavra, Deepka and Kusmunda mine was stopped by the Energy Land-established Farmers Welfare Committee. On 22 April, the Employment Unity Association of Employment Unity, with the support of the Kisan Sabha, demanded the disposal of old pending cases from the mine captive movement in Kusmunda mine. On May 19, the landlords of Naraibodh affected the mining and transportation of SECL Gevra mine under the leadership of Councilor Amila Patel. In the same month, the police arrested 7 landlords, including 3 women, for stopping the work of mining and transportation of the landlords in the Kusmunda mine.
In FY 2025-26, SECL was given a target of 41.31 million tonnes of coal production from 12 June. But the coal company’s target has produced less than 85 percent of coal. The monsoon season has not knocked yet. Despite this, SECL has done less mining than the current target. The production of open mines in the rain is definitely affected. The landlord’s mine has become a hindrance in mining work. The total production so far is 33.21 million tonnes.
