Consumer Commission raised hope for consumers upset with arbitrary bill of electricity company

The Consumer Commission has raised hope for consumers troubled by the arbitrary bill of the power company. While hearing the complaint of a consumer from Bhopal, the District Consumer Commission has ordered the Electricity Central Region Electricity Distribution Company to repay the compensation of Rs 15,000.

Bill came five times more than average
In fact, Nilesh Joshi, a resident of Morga village in Huzur, filed a petition against the power company in the District Consumer Commission in the year 2022. He said that his house has limited electrical equipment. Every month their electricity bill has been coming from Rs 300 to Rs 500. His bill came to Rs 1480 in May 2022.

Complained, but no action
Troubled, he complained of wrong reading in the company, but no action was taken. The power company argued that the consumer’s power supply was never reduced. The bill has increased due to the difference of power consumption. The bill is given to the consumer according to meter reading and use.

Order to issue new bill
A bench of Consumer Commission Chairman Giribala Singh, members Anjum Feroz and Preity Mudgal refused to accept the company’s argument. He said that the company has reduced service by not taking action regarding the complaints of the consumer. For this reason they release a new bill with real consumption. It was also ordered to give 15 thousand rupees for mental compensation.
