New Delhi
Shubhanshu Shukla, an Indian Air Force pilot and newly fledged astronaut of ISRO, will now leave for space on 19 June 2025. The new date of launching of the AX-04 mission has been officially confirmed. It was previously postponed indefinitely. It will be launched from Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Let us tell you that this is a combined mission of Axiom Space, Spacex and ISRO. Along with this, Shubhanshu Shukla will join selected astronauts in India who travels to the International Space Station (ISS).
Liquid oxygen leak problem solved
Last week, the Axiom-4 mission was averted on 10 June 2025, as the Falcon 9 rocket got the liquid oxygen leaks. It was found in the booster of leak rocket, which had to stop the launch. Experts from ISRO, Axiom Space and Spacex together solved this problem.
It was told in the meeting that the repair of leaks has been completed. The rocket booster was again tested and now it is safe. The ISRO chairman praised the decision and said that security is earlier. Subsequently, the team planned to resume the mission.
Zvezda service module check
On the other hand, Axiom Space, in association with NASA, has initiated an investigation into a pressure abnormality (Pressure anomaly) in the Zvezda service module at the International Space Station (ISS). This module is part of Russia. Recently it was repaired.
Earlier, the problem of liquid oxygen leakage was revealed in Falcon 9 rocket, which has now been completely corrected by the engineers of Spacex. The mission was approved after reviewing technical aspects in an important meeting between ISRO, Axiom Space and Spacex.
Use of India in space
During this mission, Shubhanshu Shukla will do seven scientists designed by India and will also participate in joint research with NASA. This is considered a major step for India’s Human Space Mission program.
The Axiom Space and NASA are currently monitoring the Pressure Anomaly in the Zvezda service module of the international space station. Although this problem is not related to the AX-04 mission, underlines the importance of international cooperation and security. The AX-04 mission is part of the long-term plan of Axiom Space under which they are working towards developing the world’s first commercial space station.
Axiom Space said that they are solving this problem together with NASA. This investigation is necessary for the safety of the mission. There is no major threat yet, but precautions are being taken.
New date of AX-04 Mission: 19 June 2025
AXIOM Space has now fixed the new launch date for the AX-04 mission 19 June 2025. This mission will take four people, including Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, to ISS. The launch will be from Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Falcon 9 rocket and dragon spacecraft will be used. The mission includes scientific experiment and study of human life in space. Shubhanshu Shukla will be India’s first skyway, who will go to space through this mission.
Recent challenges and success
Earlier, the AX-04 mission was launched several times. In May 2025, due to bad weather and liquid oxygen leaks in June, there was a delay. But now the team says that all the problems have been solved. Spacex said that they would confirm the new date after the availability of the range. ISRO has also given technical assistance in this mission, which is a matter of pride for India’s space program.
