Encounter of Naxalites and security forces in Sukma district, two piles, searches continue

There is news of an encounter of Naxalites and security forces in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. Two Naxalites have been killed in an encounter between the two. An automatic weapon has also been recovered from the Naxalites killed in the forest of Kukanar police station area. Sukma SP Kiran Chavan said that the encounter and search operation is going on. The two killed in the two Naxalites are also a woman.

Let us tell you that on the morning of 11 June 2025, on the basis of reliable intelligence about the presence of Naxalite cadres of the banned CPI Maoist organization, a joint team of Kukanar police station employees and Sukma DRG were sent for a search operation. The search operation started around 2 pm, during which there was several firing between security forces and Maoists.

One of the slain Naxalites has been identified as Squad (LOS) Commander Baman, a local organization of Pederas, which was a reward of Rs 5 lakh. The woman Naxalite cadre recovered after the encounter has not yet been identified. An INSAS rifle, a 12-bore rifle, as well as other weapons, ammunition and explosive material have been seized from the encounter site. Additional assistant teams have been deployed and taking advantage of the area, intensive search operations continue in the surrounding forest areas to locate and capture other fleeing Maoist cadres.

Earlier, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Akash Rao Giripunje was killed in the IED blast in Sukma district. According to IG, ASP Giripunje was on foot patrol to prevent any Naxalite incident, when IED explosion took place near Dondra on Konta-Erabora Road, causing Akash Rao Giripunje, ASP of Konta Division in Sukma district, seriously injured. He later died due to injuries.
