Agriculture Development and Farmers Welfare Minister Shri Ram Vichar Netam attended the closing ceremony of the four -day National General Festival held at Krishi Mandapam of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University today. The four -day National Common Festival organized under the joint aegis of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Raipur, Directorate Horticulture and Region Forestry, Joint of Chhattisgarh and the Society on nature concluded here today.
The chief guest of the closing ceremony was Shri Ramvichar Netam, Minister of Agricultural Development and Farmers Welfare and Biotechnology. Forest and Environment Minister Shri Kedar Kashyap, Minister of Health and Family Welfare Shri Shyam Bihari Jaiswal, Minister of Revenue and Sports and Youth Welfare Shri Tankaram Verma, Women and Child Development Minister Mrs. Laxmi Rajwade, State Seed and Agriculture Development Corporation Chairman Mr. Chandrahas Chandrakar, Chhattisgarh Bhawan and other construction workers welfare board Chairman Shri Ram Pratap Singh and Chairman of State Backward Classes Commission, Mr. R.S. Vishwakarma was present as a special guest.
The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Girish Chandel, Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University. On this occasion, under the general exhibition organized at the National Common Festival, common producing farmers and institutions who received prizes in various common species were rewarded. Progressive farmers who made significant contribution in the field of common production in Chhattisgarh were also honored.
Concluding the National Common Festival, Agriculture Minister Shri Ramvichar Netam said that in this large and grand national general festival held at Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, farmers and common citizens of Chhattisgarh got an opportunity to see more than 1600 mangoes. For this, Indira Gandhi Agricultural University and Directorate of State Government are eligible for horticulture. He said that he came here and got the privilege of seeing many new varieties, which also gave the farmers of Chhattisgarh a chance to know about the newly advanced and different qualities of mangoes. As a result, the farmers of Chhattisgarh will be motivated to produce new species of mangoes. Shri Netam congratulated the agricultural scientists of the country for the development of new advanced varieties of mangoes. Mr. Netam said that such events should be organized in tribal dominated divisions like Bastar and Surguja besides the capital Raipur, so that farmers of these tribal areas can also benefit. Mr. Netam said that the general festival includes 120 common species from various districts of Bastar division along with popular common species of various states of India, which shows the rich heritage of mangoes in Chhattisgarh. He instructed the officials of Agricultural University and Horticulture Department to further encourage general production in Chhattisgarh.
While presiding over the function, Dr. Girish Chandel, Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, informed the Chief Minister and other guests about the National General Festival and said that the National General Festival demonstrated more than 1200 discourses of more than 427 varieties of mangoes and 56 types of dishes made from mangoes. In the last three days, more than 10 thousand people visited the fair and exhibition in the National Mango Festival. Fruits and plants of different varieties of mango were also sold by common growers from different parts of the country where about 50 thousand saplings were purchased by farmers and common citizens. A large number of fruits of various common species were also sold in the fair. Dr. Chandel said that this National General Festival organized for the second consecutive time in the Agricultural University campus was very successful in all ways.
On this occasion, the guests honored the progressive farmers who made specific contributions for the production of mangoes in Chhattisgarh – Mr. Suresh Gupta Village Silfili, District Ambikapur, Mr. Taran Lal Dhruv Village Baruka District Gariaband and Mr. Suresh Thakur Village Chandnidih District Raipur. Senior officials of Indira Gandhi Agricultural University, Department of Agriculture and Horticulture Department were present in the program, agricultural scientist and a large number of common productive farmers.
