Pakistan has written a letter to India four times, every drop arises for water

After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, India has given a strong reply to Pakistan. While the Government of India destroyed the terrorist bases of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) and Pakistan under Operation Sindoor, on the other hand, by taking a major decision to suspend the Indus Water Treaty, he has given a deep blow to Pakistan.

After this unexpected step, Pakistan’s condition has become such that it is craving for water drop. Pakistan has so far written four letters to India demanding the abolition of Indus Water Treaty. But India’s attitude is clear – until Pakistan stops supporting terrorists, India will have to live with Pakistan till then there will be no relief.

Pakistan’s appeal and India’s clear message

Pakistan sent the first letter in early May, when Operation Sindoor had not started yet. After this, three more letters have been sent to India. All these letters were received by the Ministry of Water Power of India and then were forwarded to the Ministry of External Affairs.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also made it clear that “trade and terror, blood and water, conversation and bullets – cannot run together.” The same policy of India is now applying to Indus Water Treaty.

Indus Water Treaty: Pakistan is facing heavy water shortage

The Indus River is considered to be the lifeline of Pakistan, where a large population is dependent on the Indus water (Indus Water Treaty). Pakistan is facing water crisis after India’s decision to suspend it. According to reports, Pakistan’s fields are drying up and citizens are upset due to lack of water in the reservoirs.

Shahbaz Sharif’s appeal and emphasis on water projects

In view of the critical water condition, Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has declared water security a national priority. He has urged the union and the provinces to work on the construction of new reservoirs. Sharif has directed that a high-level committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar to agree on non-displayed water projects and to agree on it.

Indus Water Treaty: History of Indus Water Treaty and Attempting Internationalization

The Indus Water Treaty (IWT) was signed between India and Pakistan in 1960, which is associated with the water sharing of six rivers – Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi, Sutlej and Beas. The treaty was successful for years, but the support of terrorist activities by Pakistan (Indus Water Treaty) is forcing India to reconsider it.

Recently, Shahbaz Sharif (Indus Water Treaty) tried to raise the issue on the international stage at the international conference held in Dusamba, the capital of Tajikistan. He said that India should not play with the lives of millions of Pakistani citizens for “narrow political benefits”.
