A big step has been taken for the youth of Chhattisgarh to create a future in sports. The proposal to establish a national level Archery Academy at Nawa Raipur Atal Nagar was approved at a meeting of the Council of Ministers held at Mahanadi Bhavan, Naya Raipur on June 4 under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai. This academy will be one of the best sports institutions in the country, which will provide residential facility for training centers and players equipped with modern facilities.

For the establishment of the National Archery Academy, the Sports and Youth Welfare Department will be given 13.47 acres of land at Sector-03, Village Parsada of Naya Raipur free of cost. The state government, the Nawa Raipur Atal Municipal Development Authority will reimburse Rs 39.22 crore including premium, land-bound and GST of the land.

Describing this decision as historic, Chief Minister Shri Vishnudev Sai said that it is not only a building or institute, but is a golden opportunity for the youth of Chhattisgarh. We do not have a shortage of talents here, need to give them the right training and opportunity. Institutions like National Archery Academy will provide international level facilities and guidance to the players of the state. This academy will not only identify Chhattisgarh in the field of sports, but the players coming out of here will also increase the pride of the country.

This archery academy will be established in collaboration with NTPC Limited. The proposed academy will include world -class facilities like outdoor archery range, AC containing indoor range, high performance centers, hostels for players, residential complex for directors and employees. Within three months of the land allocation order, the lease contract will have to be executed and registered and it will be necessary to start construction work within one year from the date of the contract and complete it in three years. The responsibility of constructing the National Archery Academy will be the responsibility of the Nawa Raipur Atal Municipal Development Authority as the Implementation Agency. Therefore, necessary budgetary provisions will be ensured by the state government. This will be the first time in Chhattisgarh when such a large structure will be created for traditional and technical sports like archery. This will also give a platform to the archery talent hidden in the tribal areas and will lead to a new identity in the field of state sports.
