New Delhi
Elon Musk’s company Starlink’s entry in India is going to happen very soon. News agency Reuters quoted sources as saying that Starlink has received an important license from India’s Telecommunications Ministry. Getting this license is considered a major achievement for Starlink.
Let us know that Starlink will be the third company in India, which has been received by Telecom Ministry. Earlier, Jio and Airtel have also got this license. Earlier on Thursday, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had told that the Starlink SATCOM license can be given soon, the process is going on for this.
According to a report, after approval from the Government of India, Starlink has now come closer to starting its satellite internet service in India. Now Starlink has become India’s third such company that has been allowed to provide satellite internet service.
Minister of Communications told about approval
The country’s Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia informed that now Starlink has been allowed to start service in India. He informed that earlier a license was also issued by the government to Bharti Airtel’s Onweb and Reliance’s Jio. Now by getting this license to Starlink, satellite internet services will take a new form in India.
He said that Starlink’s satellite connectivity is an important addition in the country’s telecom services. Earlier there were only fixed line connections, then mobile network came, then broadband and now optical fiber network has also arrived. Along with all this, now satellite connectivity has also become very important.
Scindia also said that it will now be possible to deliver the internet in those areas of the country where it is difficult to install traditional tower or cable. With this, good internet service will also be available in far-flung and hilly areas and a strong step will move towards Digital India ..
What is Starlink?
Starlink is a satellite internet service of Elon Musk’s company Spacex. This Lo Earth Orbit (Leo) is a satellite based internet service. With its help, high speed internet can be delivered to far-flung areas of the world. There has been a discussion for quite some time that Starlink service will be launched in India.
Starlink works through many small satellites at an altitude of 500 to 550 km. This is not the first time Starlink is being discussed in India. The company started pre-booking in India in the year 2021. However, due to lack of necessary license from the Government of India, the company had to stop pre-booking at that time.
Jio and Airtel will have to compete with
In India, this company will compete directly with Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel’s Onweeb. However, recently Starlink had announced a partnership with both these companies. This announcement is about Starlink’s kit and hardware distribution. Starlinks are in vogue in many countries and there is still time for its service to start in India.
Even after getting the necessary license, the picture of the satellite spectrum has not been cleared yet. Only after the satellite spectrum is distributed, a company will be able to start its service in India. A challenge here is on the method of allotment of spectrum. Where Jio and Airtel want to auction spectrum in the traditional way. At the same time, the starlink wants divides in an administrative manner.
Benefits and Price
Now the question is whether people will get the benefit of starlink or satellite internet. This will make connectivity easier in the remote area. Especially in places where it is difficult to set up towers or to provide broadband service. Due to satellite internet, such an area will also get better speed.
However, at what cost this service is launched, this is also a big question. According to estimates so far, the company’s service will be expensive. You may have to pay a good amount for a starlink kit. At the same time, monthly or annual plans will also be much more expensive than the regular broadband plan.
